City of Fairmont Meter Department

The City of Fairmont maintains a full time staff of five in its meter department along with Meter Department Supervisor Emilio Mauro located at the Fairmont Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Meter Department reads residential, commercial, industrial and resale meters. The readings are then forwarded to the finance office for billing.

The Meter Department also:

• Turns on and turns off water service as per customer request
• Checks meter readings for billing
• Tests meters per Public Service Commission guidelines
• Replace broken or stopped meters
• Checks no water calls by customers
• Collects delinquent bills for the finance office
• Adjusts bills for underground water leaks per Public Service Commission guidelines
• Addresses some customer complaints not being resolved by the billing department
